With rigorous efforts, approval of GOI was obtained in April 2011 for transfer of 10 hectare forest land to University near Transport Nagar, Haldwani.
Construction of first phase of the proposed five stories building of university’s own campus has completed and now the university is functioning from its own building since August 2012.

The progress of UOU was highly commended in the International Conference of Vice Chancellors held at Mysore from 21-23rd Sept. 2011. Consequently the UOU has been connected with international network of World Open Universities.
Prof. Vinay Kumar Pathak was conferred the Global e-learning Award for his Outstanding Contribution to Education, in the World Education Congress during the Learn Tech 2012 International Conference held on 29th &30th June, 2012 in Mumbai.
Efforts for Quality Education by adopting regular and systematic self evaluation system as per the guidelines of Common Wealth of Learning (COL) Canada (an international organization of repute) have been made.
