The Department of Clinical Psychology is dedicated to shaping the next generation of psychologists, counselors, and researchers. Centre for Well-being

Recognizing the critical importance of student mental health, the Department of Clinical Psychology proudly houses the Centre for Well-being. Inaugurated by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor on January 30, 2025, the Centre was established to provide structured, accessible, and professional mental health support to the student community.

The Centre is dedicated to fostering a supportive campus environment by offering continuous psychological care. We provide regular consultation, professional counselling, and therapeutic interventions tailored to student needs. To ensure maximum accessibility and privacy, all services are available through both online and offline modes. Beyond individual counselling, the Centre for Well-being actively works to destigmatize mental health and promote psychological resilience across the university through major community events.

The Post Graduate Diploma in Guidance and Counselling aims to equip students with the necessary skills to support individuals in personal, educational, and career-related challenges. This program focuses on psychological assessment, counselling techniques, and intervention strategies, making graduates well-suited for roles in schools, colleges, corporate sectors, and mental health organizations.

Both programs emphasize practical learning through laboratory work, field training, and internships, ensuring that students develop the competencies required to thrive in diverse professional settings.

The Department of Clinical Psychology, CSJMU, Kanpur invites applications for admission to the RCI-approved M.A. in Clinical Psychology program for the academic session 2025–27.

This two-year full-time postgraduate course is designed according to the curriculum and standards prescribed by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). The program prepares students for professional roles in clinical and mental health settings and is a gateway for licensure and advanced psychological practice in India.

Admission Details:

Seats: 10
Eligibility: Minimum educational requirement for admission to this course will be _4 years B.
A./B.Sc. degree in Psychology from a university recognized by the UGC with a minimum of 55%
marks in aggregate. For SC/ST category, minimum of 50% marks in aggregate is essential, as per GOI.
The candidates who have completed their graduation programme in 3 years shall have to pass fourth
year Bridge Course or first year of Masters Programme in Psychology with minimum of 55% marks
are also eligible.
Selection Process: Through entrance examination conducted by the university [The weightage
of entrance test shall be 70% whereas the interview will be 30%].

Intake Capacity: Strict cap of 10 seats (ensuring elite, high-quality, personalized clinical mentoring)
Eligibility: 3-year B.A./B.Sc. degree in Psychology from a recognized university with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate (50% for SC/ST).
Credit Structure: 45 cumulative credits (Semester I: 20 credits | Semester II: 25 credits).

Evaluation Rigor: 75% End-Semester External Examination and 25% Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA) mapped to mid-sem exams, academic presentations, and professional conduct.
