Introduction 

Television production studio cum media centre that was established on February 1, 2022, in the journalism and mass communication department of the Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University. The studio is divided into three main sections: the primary studio in the first section, the production control room in the second section and the editing suite in the third section.

Objective 

The studio has two primary objectives. Firstly, to familiarize the journalism and mass communication students with the technical skills required in television news production. The second objective is to prepare the students to face the challenges of television news in the future and turn them into professional journalists who can serve society and the country’s interests after completing the course.

The studio’s establishment is a commendable effort to equip the students with the necessary skills and experience in the field of television news production. This initiative will undoubtedly provide a platform for students to develop and showcase their talents while preparing them for the dynamic world of journalism.

Features 

The first section of the studio houses the primary studio, where the students can learn how to operate and use the equipment needed for television news production. The outer section is where the production control room is located, allowing the students to learn how to control the production process and manage the various aspects of television news. Lastly, the third section of the studio is the editing suite, where the students can learn how to edit and finalize the footage they have recorded.

Achievement 

In the TV studio, the department created news bulletins, produced interviews and promotional videos, documentaries on the regular basis related to various university activities. The students of the department anchored all these bulletins, learned the intricacies of PCR, and also handled the camera.

The studio also recorded and edited videos lectures given by university and affiliated colleges professors. These lectures were made available on the Gyan Sanchay portal for easy access.

Overall, the Journalism and Mass Communication department’s studio had an eventful and productive period, producing a wide range of content and providing valuable learning opportunities for students.
