About The Department

The Department of Clinical Psychology, under the School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, offers a three-year B.A. (Honors in Psychology) program and a Post Graduate Diploma in Guidance and Counselling. The department is committed to academic excellence and professional development, with a team of highly qualified faculty members dedicated to training students in both theoretical and applied aspects of psychology.

The B.A. (Honors in Psychology) program helps students develop critical thinking and a deeper understanding of human behaviour. It covers research methods, psychological assessments, and practical interventions, preparing students for careers in mental health, education, research, and workplace psychology.

Infrastructure:
The Department has a spacious infrastructure with well-ventilated classrooms designed to create an optimal learning environment The Department has a dedicated laboratory which is equipped with wide range of psychological tests and assessment tools to ensure hands-on experiential learning and practical training for students.

The Post Graduate Diploma in Guidance and Counselling aims to equip students with the necessary skills to support individuals in personal, educational, and career-related challenges. This program focuses on psychological assessment, counselling techniques, and intervention strategies, making graduates well-suited for roles in schools, colleges, corporate sectors, and mental health organizations.

Both programs emphasize practical learning through laboratory work, field training, and internships, ensuring that students develop the competencies required to thrive in diverse professional settings.

Syllabus
Effective from : 2022-23

BSc clinical psychology:

Duration: 4 years
Eligibility: 12th pass with science stream
Admission process: Entrance exam

MA clinical psychology:

Duration: 2 years
Eligibility: Minimum educational requirement is 4 years B. A./B.Sc. degree in Psychology from a university recognized by the UGC with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate. ForSC/ST category, minimum of 50% marks in aggregate is essential, as per GOI. The candidates who have completed their graduation programme in 3 years shall have to pass fourth year Bridge Course or first year of Masters Programme in Psychology with minimum of 55 % marks are also eligible.
Admission Procedure: Admission will be on the basis of an entrance examination, consisting of a written test and interview. The weightage of entrance test shall be 70% whereas the interview will be of 30%.
