Institute Innovation Council (IIC), CSJM University, Kanpur

The Institute Innovation Council (IIC) at CSJM University, Kanpur, is a dynamic platform dedicated to fostering a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and research-driven problem solving. Established under the guidelines of the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), Government of India, the IIC@CSJMU was established in 2021 aims to nurture young minds by providing mentorship, resources, and an ecosystem that supports ideation, prototyping, and startup incubation.

With dedicated leadership and support from CSJM University’s Office of Dean (Innovations, Entrepreneurship, and Startups) and CSJM Innovation Foundation (Tech Business
Incubator promoted by CSJMU), the IIC actively engages in flagship programs like Smart India Hackathon, Innovation Challenges, and various entrepreneurship drives. By empowering young innovators, we strive to create a self-reliant, Atmanirbhar Bharat, fostering technological advancements and sustainable solutions for global challenges.

Mission

Our mission is to bridge academia and industry, encouraging students and faculty to engage in real-world innovation challenges.

Objectives

• To develop an innovation-friendly environment through awareness programs, workshops, and hands-on training.
• To facilitate startup incubation and mentorship for students, faculty, and aspiring entrepreneurs.
• To support technology transfer, patent filing, and intellectual property (IP) creation.
• To organize hackathons, ideation contests, and problem-solving competitions for realworld applications.
• To establish industry linkages, research collaborations, and funding opportunities for innovative projects.
• To integrate design thinking, entrepreneurship, and innovation-related curriculum into academics.
• To provide pre-incubation and prototype development support to students with potential business ideas.

Key Activities and Initiatives

• Innovation & Entrepreneurship Workshops: Regular sessions on design thinking, business model development, and startup financing.
• Hackathons & Ideathons: Hosting competitions like Ideathons, Corporata Business Challenges, Innovation Challenges, Smart India Hackathon, Toycathon, and AgriTech Challenges to encourage problem-solving.
• Incubation & Mentorship Support: Collaboration with CSJM Innovation Foundation to provide infrastructure, funding, and mentoring.
• Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Support: Seminars on patents, copyrights, trademarks, and technology commercialization.
• Startup Funding & Grants: Assistance in securing grants from government and private sector funding agencies.
• Industry-Academia Linkage: MoUs with industries for live projects, internships, and research collaborations.
• Sustainathon & Industry-Oriented Problem-Solving: Engaging students in real-world challenges to drive sustainability-driven innovations.
• Faculty & Student Exchange Programs: Encouraging knowledge-sharing through national and international collaborations.
• Policy Formulation & Implementation: Ensuring adherence to National Innovation and Startup Policy (NISP) guidelines.
