Dr. Varsha Gupta is presently working as Dean, Research & Development at CSJMU, Kanpur. She is member of the Academic Council and Board of studies (BOS) of School of Life Sciences & Biotechnology, CSJM University, National Sugar Institute (A Central Government Institute), Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, Varanasi. She had worked as coordinator of her universities, University Grants Commission’s equal opportunity cell where she has initiated Remedial, coaching for NET/SET in several streams including Life Sciences and coaching for entry into services, banking PO and SSC for SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer) and minority communities. She organized several academic programs at university and school levels for promotion and awareness about biotechnology amongst school students, promoting them to opt for biotechnology as career option. Because of her efforts she was invited to judge the sessions of Children National Science Congress (part of Indian Science Congress) which had participation of many schools from India. She has been conducting Hands on workshops for students of colleges to give them an opportunity to learn and use scientific tools and techniques. These are very well received amongst participants because of their benefits. She was the member of Entrepreneurship Cell where she was not only instrumental in Industry-academia interface but strongly promoted innovation, incubation and providing ecosystem for budding entrepreneurs and interactions for linking it with schemes of Start Up India and Skill India. She has received fellowships such as DBT fellowship during M.Sc., CSIR-JRF NET, JNU-UGC-JRF, JUN-UGC-SRF, CSIR-SRF, DST-Young Scientist. She is favorite teacher of Immunology, Biophysical & Biochemical techniques, Stem Cell Biology and Medical Biotechnology. She organizes class debates on many aspects and ethical issues in biotechnological research for in-depth knowledge of the students. She contributed to many online lectures during COVID-19 pandemic.
