M.Sc. (Microbiology)

About the Programme: M.Sc. in Microbiology is a two-year postgraduate course (4 semesters) advanced course imparting in-depth knowledge regarding micro-organisms including viruses, bacteria, algae, fungi, protozoa, and their various interactions with humans, animals, plants, and the environment. The focus is on skill training in microbial handling with microbial, biochemical, physiological, serological, diagnostic, and molecular level characterization. The course is designed to cover basic and applied microbiological fields such as Agriculture, Industrial, Medical, and Clinical, Infectious Immunobiology, Microbial biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Microbiology, Food, Dairy and Beverage Microbiology, and Environmental Microbiology. Recent advances in the field such as nanotechnology, microbial genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomic analysis and their applications have been included in the course curriculum. The program is designed to enhance knowledge and skill-oriented course with tremendous career opportunities in various research, academic and industrial settings. The program is offered with hands-on training in laboratories that are well equipped with instrumentation facilities.

Eligibility: Bachelor degree (minimum three year course) in biological sciences with at least 50% marks in aggregate (5% relaxation for SC/ST/ Differently abled students as per norms)
