M.Sc. (Life Sciences)

About the Programme: M.Sc. in Life Sciences is a two-year postgraduate program that deals with the study of the living systems and life processes in greater detail ranging from the molecular level to the organism level including its interaction with the environment. The course will also offer knowledge about the integrated biotechnological approach involving the manipulation of molecular processes in biological systems for the benefit of mankind in various fields. The program provides a solid foundation for the understanding of scientific principles and their applications in interdisciplinary areas related to life processes. This is an interdisciplinary program that involves a combined study of various techniques and theories of subjects such as Cell and Molecular Biology, Genetics, Development Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics and Structural Biology, Animal and Plant Physiology, Biostatistics, Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. In addition to these courses, this program offers several optional papers covering frontier areas in Life Sciences. This program aims to inculcate among the students a deep understanding of research in interdisciplinary and emerging areas of Life Sciences which meet educational, national, and international priorities (as per UGC mandate).
