Dr. Rohit Singh Chauhan is currently Professor at Department Chemistry, Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur. Previously, Dr. Rohit served as Dean, Research & Consultancy at K. J. Somaiya College of Science and Commerce, University of Mumbai. Dr. Chauhan obtained his M.Sc. in Chemistry from Christ Church P.G. College and pursued his doctoral research from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), under Dr. Rohit Singh Chauhan is currently Professor at Department Chemistry, Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur. Previously, Dr. Rohit served as Dean, Research & Consultancy at K. J. Somaiya College of Science and Commerce, University of Mumbai. Dr. Chauhan obtained his M.Sc. in Chemistry from Christ Church P.G. College and pursued his doctoral research from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), under the aegis of Homi Bhabha National Institute Deemed University (HBNI), with research focused on the organometallic chemistry of platinum-group metal complexes involving organochalcogenolate ligand systems. He subsequently carried out postdoctoral research at École Polytechnique, Paris, working on organo-phosphosalene ligand systems and metal complexes in unusual oxidation states. His research expertise in synthetic inorganic chemistry, organometallic chemistry, coordination chemistry, chalcogen chemistry, molecular-precursor chemistry, catalysis, functional materials and medicinal chemistry particularly molecular approaches towards anti-tubercular agents. His academic career encompasses research, postgraduate teaching, doctoral supervision, research administration, scientific collaborations and organization of national and international academic programmes. He has supervised several Ph.D. and postgraduate research scholars and has established collaborations with scientists and academics from leading national and international institutions, including Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, École Polytechnique, Howard University, and the University of St Andrews. His research and academic contributions have been recognized through several honours and distinctions, including the Dr. S. K. Somaiya Award for Excellence in Research – Higher & Technical Education, SMC Bronze Medal, INSA-VSP Award, recognition as a Young Associate of the Maharashtra Academy of Sciences and DST Young Scientist Start-Up Research Grant, He was also selected for NASI Membership (2025) and served as Convener of national and international conferences supported by ANRF and ICSSR. His overall research philosophy integrates fundamental organometallic and inorganic chemistry with molecular precursor approaches, catalysis, functional materials and medicinal chemistry, with an emphasis on developing molecular systems of both fundamental.
