Bio Sketch/About
Dr. Rohit Srivastava received his Ph.D. in Applied Chemistry from the Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra, Ranchi, India, in 2015. He was subsequently awarded the prestigious and highly competitive Dr. D. S. Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship, under which he conducted advanced postdoctoral research at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. He further pursued international postdoctoral research at Harvard University from June 2016 to June 2018, where he worked on an industry-sponsored research project funded by Repsol, a leading global energy company, under the mentorship of Prof. Juan Pérez-Mercader, former Director of the Centro de Astrobiología (CAB), Spain. His research at Harvard involved interdisciplinary work at the interface of chemistry, energy, sustainability, and origin-of-life research. Dr. Srivastava's research has primarily focused on green hydrogen production, CO₂ conversion, water electrolysis, electrocatalysis, and sustainable energy and fuel technologies, with particular emphasis on developing scalable and resource-efficient technologies for the energy transition. In recognition of the translational potential of his research, he was awarded the Ignition Grant (2023) by the United States–India Science & Technology Endowment Fund (USISTEF).
He has successfully completed four sponsored research projects, including two bilateral projects, supported by organizations including USISTEF, ANRF (ASEAN–India R&D Scheme), Shell Energy India Pvt. Ltd., Gujarat Council on Science & Technology (GUJCOST), and the Climate Change Department, Government of Gujarat. His scholarly contributions include more than 40 peer-reviewed research articles published in international journals. He is also an inventor on three patents and has authored nine books published internationally by leading academic publishers, including Wiley, Elsevier, Springer Nature, and Taylor & Francis (CRC Press). Dr. Srivastava has also contributed to national-level research and policy initiatives related to hydrogen and sustainable energy.
He nominated as an External Expert Member of the DST National Expert Advisory Committee (NEAC) for evaluating proposals under the Indo-Danish Joint Call for Project Proposals 2024, as well as for Hydrogen & Fuel Cell (HFC-2023) and stakeholder-consultation activities aimed at identifying priority research areas across the green hydrogen value chain and developing roadmaps for India's Green Hydrogen Valley Innovation Clusters (HVIC). In addition to his research activities, Dr. Srivastava has demonstrated academic leadership through editorial and professional service.
He has served as a Guest Editor for reputed journals, including the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy and the Journal of Physics: Energy. He served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU), Gandhinagar, Gujarat, from August 2018 to September 2026. Dr. Srivastava currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry, School of Basic Sciences, Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU), Kanpur, India. His current research focuses on green hydrogen production, CO₂ conversion, advanced electrocatalysis, water electrolysis, and sustainable energy and fuel technologies, with a strong emphasis on translating fundamental materials and electrochemical research into practical technologies for energy transition, decarbonization, and climate action.
