Dr Niyati Padhi is a developmental economist with more than 25 years of teaching experience both at the under graduation and post-graduation level. After completing her PhD in Economics from the school of social science at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, she joined as a faculty in the department of humanities and social science at CSJM University, Kanpur. Her specialisation lies in dealing with socio-economic issues like urban poverty, unemployment and other related problems in this area. She is an expert on analysis of primary data. Her study on ‘impact of reservation policy on the socio-economic condition of socially backward women in teaching profession- A study in Kanpur city’ reveals the flaws in the implementation of caste based reservation policy in India and suggests various measures to make the policy achieve the desired results. She has taught various courses with major focus on engineering economics and Indian economic problems and policies.
