Social innovations in higher education universities can help create a more engaged, inclusive, and sustainable learning environment that prepares students to make a positive impact in their communities and the world. There are many social innovations that are being implemented in CSJM University Kanpur to enhance the student experience, promote social responsibility, and encourage innovation.

  • Social entrepreneurship programs: Encouraging and supporting students to createsocial enterprises, which are businesses designed to address social problems and meet societal needs.
  • Rural centric social innovation: The University focuses on social work through adoption of local villages and providing aid to the residents. Social Science department students conduct awareness programmes about cleanliness, health and education.
    Distribution of winter clothes, school books, coloring material amongst weaker sections of the populations are conducted. Awareness programs and health screening programs are organized for weaker sections of the population.
  • Women centric social innovations: The socio-economic challenges faced by women are also focused upon and the NSS volunteers engage in development in such areas by teaching women and children from weaker sections fee of cost.
  • Interdisciplinary Innovative teaching-learning practices: CSJM University academic programs encourage students to take courses across different fields of study, and promote collaboration between departments and faculties. Innovation pedagogical practices Progressive and Useful Stimulus Harvesting (PUSH), Communicable and Useful Teaching Exercise (CUTE), Various ICT initiatives, Hybrid, flipped and blended Approaches, Individual Assistance Programme (IAP), Special Assistance Programme (SAP), Special Education Zone (SEZ), Knowledge Enrichment Programme (KEP), Regular Academic Monitoring (RAM), Academic and Competitive Consultancy Services (ACCS).
  • Community-based learning: Providing opportunities for students to engage in service-learning projects and work with community organizations to address local needs. The university has an active NSS unit as well as other divisions targeting equal participation for all students irrespective of gender. The NSS unit has actively contributed to the aforementioned causes through persistent efforts to stir social change.
  • Technology-enhanced learning: Using technology to enhance the learning experience, such as online courses, virtual classrooms, and multimedia resources.
  • Student-led initiatives: Empowering students to take the lead in designing and implementing projects that promote social responsibility and address community needs.
  • Inclusive and diverse learning environments: Ensuring that all students, regardless of their background, feel welcome and supported in the university community.
  • Sustainable practices: Encouraging and promoting sustainable practices in university operations, such as energy conservation, waste reduction, and green transportation.
  • Career preparation and readiness: Providing students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the workforce, including internships, networking opportunities, and career counseling. Placement and Training Cell of CSJMU is actively engaged in capacity building and enhancing soft skills, personality development and communication skills for social interactions of students.
