About The Department
With the emerging needs of the growing pattern of economy, there has been a long felt necessity of aligning the education system with adequate knowledge and skills required for employment and entrepreneurship. This shall enable in the logistic development of a well-groomed industry ready graduates.
Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc.) Degree in Fashion Technology aims to create graduates with core technical skills and knowledge required for the Fashion Garment Industry. The program is structured to provide intensive practical skills in the area of Fabric Quality Evaluation, Fabric Value Addition, Pattern and Garment making, Merchandising and Retailing. The course will develop students with the ability to Develop Designs and make Garments according to the requirements of the industries.
The curriculum aims at Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc.) Degree in Interior Design is to fulfil the Skill Gap requirements required by the building industry. It is designed with multiple exit options to Diploma/Advanced Diploma/Bachelor Degree under NSQF (National Skills Qualifications Framework) based on NVEQF (National Vocational Educational Qualification Framework), and Industry requirements.

Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur has established a Department of Vocational Studies with two branches, Interior Design and Fashion Technology. Our vision is to provide skill development based higher education which would also incorporate specific job roles along with broad based general education. This would enable the graduates completing Bachelors in Vocation to make a meaningful participation in accelerating India’s economy by gaining appropriate employment, becoming entrepreneurs and creating appropriate knowledge. We have inaugurated the Department of Vocational Studies (Fashion Technology & Interior Design Branch) on the 18 th of October, 2019. Hon. Kamal Rani Varun, Minister of Technical Education of Uttar Pradesh was the chief guest of the event. Our Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Neelima Gupta presided over the event. Registrar. Dr. V.K. Singh along with Dr. Rashi Agarwal, Head of the department convened the inaugural ceremony.

B.Voc.-Interior Design, CSJM University, Kanpur organised a Photography Workshop by renowned Photographer Sayed Wasi Haider Kashif in association with FujifilmIndia. This was a unique opportunity for the participants to learn photography and editing techniques from an expert. Mr. Sayed told the audience that the shot will only be as good as he thought and preparedness that is done before even clicking the shot.
B.Voc – Interior Design Department took a webinar with globally renowned people from the field of Interior Design. With an evolving lifestyle and fast paced urbanization, the scope of interior design has grown significantly, making it one of the most sought after professions in India today. The market trend shows a remarkable growth in the demand of interior designers. Many people rely on professionals to design spaces to achieve a comfortable and happy living. With booming property prices, Indian homes are becoming smaller and house owners seem to have found the solution to the space crisis in the face of interior designing. These were some of the insights of the webinar conducted.
B.Voc – Fashion Technology Department together with Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises got this opportunity to conduct GARMENT MANUFACTURING Course, a 30 days programme, which was to understand the market trends and create job opportunities for the young people in the field of garment construction. During the course duration we had different professionals from various fields to make the student understand the importance of a strong entrepreneurial background in the current covid situation.
B.Voc. – Department undertook workshops which were conducted so far marking the 1st batch of the department working together with the faculties to make their Diwali Vibes special for their University.
